Jake Peavy vs. Clayton Richard

The big trade last year by Kenny Williams was sending Clayton Richard to San Diego for Jake Peavy.
Looking at the stats two months into the season lets compare and contrast.

C. Richard  ERA is 2.87
J. Peavy      ERA is 6.23

innings pitch are even Richard has thrown 69 innings while Peavy has 69.1

Richard has given up 62 hits and Peavy 72. Runs scored against Richard is 22 and Peavy is 48.

Richard has walked 27 batters and Peavy has walked 25, while striking out 62.  Richard has struck out 51.

So far this trade has not worked out for the Palehose.  I won't even go into what the White Sox have to pay Peavy and what the Padres are paying Richard.

Konerko under pressure

As the White Sox continue to fall under .500 as quickly as British Petroleum stock fell from 58 to 36 dollars a share tension mounts in the clubhouse. With AJ and Paulie Konerko in their final years of big money contracts word on the street is they want another big contract. It may even be effecting their game. Last night after a line shot single to Texas centerfielder with AJ on secondbase mouth readers in the stands could see Konerko ask firstbase coach Harold Baines why didn't they send AJ home? Looks like Paulie is trying to pad his rbi totals in his final contract year. For the record King Konerko AJ would have been out by 5 steps.
The question is can this middle age baseball team come back from the depths they are in? As long as Kotsay is hitting .200 and Beckham .210 its easy to say, no.

Last night with men on second and third and Mark Buehrle at 103 pitches why didn't Ozzie take him out and bring in Santos. Santos the fire balling relieve pitcher would have been a much better match up facing the .188 right handed hitter that Texas had up. This .188 hitter got a single off of the tired Buehrle and knocks in two runs. Ozzie is being to loyal to his players by not taking Mark out of the game. It's time for this team to kick it up a notch or let General Manager Kenny Williams re-tool. This year cross town rivalry won't be much fun when both teams are in last place.
