Lets Not Taste Ourselves Too Much Over This White Sox Club

I understand the excitement for this 2015 White Sox team because the last two years have been so bad.  But to me it looks a lot like what the Cubs use to do in the 2000's. They would sign guys just to sign them. The fans would buy into it and buy tickets and come August the high price free agents that were signed in the off season are the ones getting hammered on sports talk radio. Look I get it. The last two years have really sucked. But when the Sox signed Adam LaRoche and some, not all, some  Sox fans were ecstatic. I mean for $25,000,000 shouldn't the guy hit better than .204 against lefties. Is LaRoche a part time player? Looks like it. Maybe a 2/3 of a time player. Okay, hey its not our money. Well, not until we buy the tickets. Then some of that money is ours.

Melky Cabrera signed a three  year contract.  I am guessing by year three he is not even playing everyday. Yes 42,000,000 million Jerry bucks for Melky. I would have rather seen Nick Markakis and his 40 plus extra base hits in left field for four years at $44 million.

Are you telling me we couldn't get a cheaper left handed specialist than Zach Duke?  Neil Cotts? $15 million is a lot of cash for a guy to come in and get a lefty out 30 times a year.

Is David Robertson worth $46 million at four years? He may be. If he did what he did the last 4 years. No doubt the White Sox improved a horrible bullpen from 2014. I just hope they improved on defense.

The trade for Jeff  Samardzija should help. I just hope he can handle facing the American League and those tough DH hitters. A big change from pitching to pitchers and pinch hitters coming cold off the bench. Of course Chris Sale is a stud. When he isn't hurt. He normally misses about 7 starts during the season. So I hope they have a plan for when he goes down. Speaking of going down Adam Eaton will miss another 15 to 20 games as he hustles on every play but like Aaron Rowand isn't around all the time because of injury.  Carlos Rodon is very good. I cant wait to see him at Sox Park this summer. He will be a fun guy to watch in this game.  Robin Ventura has a much more talented team than a year ago.  They should hit much better. So much better that third base coach Joe McEwing getting guys thrown out at home won't hurt as much as the last three years.

If Tyler Flowers can hit his weight (245) and throw some guys out at second base and Gordon Beckham can fill in late in the game for his defense the Sox should be a .500 team.  Again this year  I like Conor Gillaspie at third base for his bat. He is a tough out and he knows how to hit in situations.  I am not really sure what Emilio Bonifacio brings to the table other than a back up. Which is of course needed. But nothing to start buying playoff tickets about. They still need to get past KC and the Tigers.

Either way can it be as bad as the last two years and that September 2012 swoon? Lets hope for no more September chokes like in 2012.

For A Guy Named Minnie He Was Huge

Minnie will be missed. He was loved by so many baseball fans. He was one of the greatest ever to play the game. His number 9 will be forever retired. One day he will make the Hall Of Fame. Lets hope its sooner rather than later.
