Beckham for Zambrano? Sox could use Big Z as a DH.

The word on 35th Street is that Gordon Beckham is now available for the right trade. In weeks past Beckham was no touchy. But  with the Sox desperate need for a DH that has more than warning track power from the left side the young infielder is now trade bait.
We all know the Sox would love to trade Mark Kotsay, Scott Linebrink, Mark Teahen and AA talent but who is willing to take these guys. The fact is Andruw Jones is a great price at 500K for a 4th outfielder with some pop.  But as a DH he is just not cutting the mustard.
Maybe the Sox could get Carlos Zambrano as a pitcher and a DH.  Really he would hit better than what the Sox have now as a DH.
With Dan Hudson have trouble finding the strike zone he too may be on the trade block. The fact that we have not seen Dayan Viciedo in awhile makes me wonder if he will be sent down when Teahan returns. Maybe Teahan will be the new left handed DH. Why not Harold Baines? With his new knees he maybe able to hit.
The White Sox will be willing to part with Carlos Torres, Randy Williams, Tyler Flowers and outfielder Stafan Gartrell from their minor league players who are on the 40 man roster.

White Sox Going after Series Win Today

The new Go-Go White Sox need a win today to win the series from Oakland. The Sox have not had a very good record in Oakland the past 5-6 years. So a victory today would be huge boost for the surging White Sox.  The Sox come home for a four game series starting Monday against the Seattle Mariners.

White Sox Need A DH That Hits

For the 2010 White Sox to win the central they need to find a DH that can hit.  They need to find a way to beat the Twins. Hawk Harrelson can't blame this 3 game losing streak on the dome. The fact of the matter is the Twins have a world of confidence when they play Ozzie's nine.  The turning point of the series was in game two when Dayan Viciedo did not turn the double play to get Gavin Floyd out of an inning that had 6 Twinkies crossing home plate.  We haven't seen Viciedo play the field since that gaff.  When the Sox are counting on a 43 year old player to play  3B this team has problems.  Kotsay is such a weak hitter. I would feel better having Viciedo be your full time DH until we can get a real power hitter. Will Mark Teahan get another shot at third this year?
Paul Konerko looks tired. I wish he never went to the All-Star game. He could have used the rest.
As for Bobby Jenks blowing the 3 run lead in the 9th all you can say is it happens. He and J.J. Putz have been a great one two punch all year.
Now off to Seattle for 3. We need to take 2 of 3 but should get a sweep. With the Tigers falling to the Indians this weekend the big MO is in Minnesota's favorite.  The Twins are doing this without there All-Star firstbaseman and All-Star closer in Joe Nathan.
How soon till where hear about Ozzie and Kenny fighting again? Can this team come back for 3 big losses? Still a long way to go in the season  but I hate to be on that plane heading to Seattle.

Did Peavy cost White Sox chance at Series?

The night Jake Peavy ended his 2010 season with the White Sox he was seen warming up for a total of 5 minutes. If you recall the White Sox and Angels were in a 2:45 rain delay.  As Angel pitcher  Jared Weaver warmed up in the outfield getting loose for the 8:45 P.M. start Peavy was no where to be found. Weaver was finished long tossing and nearling ending his bullpen session when Peavy emerges from the White Sox dugout. After a few short sprints in the outfield and about 10 tosses he heads to the bullpen mound. With every throw a grimance crossed Peavy's face. As Angels manager Mike Sciosa look out at the White Sox bullpen wondering why Peavy is not on the infield mound ready to throw he is astonished to see Peavy just finishing his pre-game throws around 8:44.  All in all Peavy warmed up,  from the first sprint to the last pitch and then  fist pumping the bullpen teamates was 5 minutes. 5 minutes of total warm up. In the second inning on a fast ball to home plate Peavy detaches a muscle in his shoulder and back ended his season and maybe his career.

With the amount of money the White Sox are paying this guy maybe he could have warmed up a little bit longer.

Of course if the White Sox keep on hitting like they have the past week Carlos Zambrano could pitch for the Sox and they will still win.  Carlos "No You Didnt" Quentin has hit 6 HR this past week. Including his third  grand slam of his young career. With Gordan Beckham warming up and AJ swinging a hot bat it looks like all those people who predicted the Sox to win the World Series maybe right after all.

The White Sox head into the All-Star break in first place.
